When your last baby turns one, you experience all the feels in the whole wide world.
Which compels you to completely ignore the impending date, and celebration, so that last minute you succumb to the inevitable and just buy the most beautiful cake in the whole wide world, and call it good.
The amazing (local) Krysten of Lucy & Lemons was able to whip up this gorgeous naked cake in 5 days notice to seriously save my bacon!
We gathered some of our immediate framily (including a surprise visit from out-of-town Grandma!) and watched Little Miss devour the world’s prettiest 1st birthday cake.
Everything else for the “party”, (literally you guys, we sang her happy birthday minutes before we sent the kids out to trick or treat) I just used things I had on-hand. Borrowed the crown, BFF hooked me up with a cute Birthday Babe shirt, and borrowed a 3/4″ hole punch from my mom’s craft room and made a little homemade confetti.
I realized though (finally, three kids in) that what matters most is the celebration.
All that we have to be grateful for: our baby girl.
She won’t remember this cake (don’t worry, I will def be printing pictures though so she can oohh and ahhh over it later), but rather it was a time for us to recognize where we came from, and how far she made it in her first little year of life.
A simple (gorgeous) cake, some borrowed girly gear, and accessories I had lying around (in her room mostly) and this little girl was celebrated!
