I was just reminded that we moved into our current home 4 years ago this week.
Building the home was such a learning process for us. One where things got fairly tedious at times (grout color anyone?), but our hands were on every aspect of the house – including the entire re-design of the downstairs layout.
I thought it’d be fun to take a look at some of the (constant) updates and projects that we’ve done around the house.
It was fun to add stripes & chicken wire in our entryway.
You also have to get a little creative in new construction to add character and function. So we added these unfinished planks throughout the house, with hooks, to serve both as aesthetic and function.
I’ve also been on a mission to rip out all of the wire shelving in our closets, in exchange for something just as functional, but more pleasing to the eye.
A closet turned mini mudroom/drop zone. It never looks this clean. 🙂
Our white kitchen is for sure one of my most favorite things in the home.
It was a design choice that was definitely an absolute MUST.
Giant eat-in island. Tons of counter space. This is for sure where we live most of our days.
I have also LOVED the space to host.
We’ve done birthday parties, baby showers, kid’s birthdays, and meeting after meeting for organizations that we love.
There’s so much natural light with the way that our lot faces, that our downstairs is often flooded with the bright ball outside.
And I love it.
The built-ins were a DIY that handy husband tackled.
Oh, and that farmhouse table right there. Best purchase ever. The built-in butterfly leaf: an entertainer’s dream.
Upstairs, is always a work in progress.
I’ve tackled the kids’ bathroom.
We’ve got the loft turned playroom.
And of course the kids’ rooms (my favorite definitely being little miss’ nursery).
Our master has undergone some simple design changes, the most happening though is still in progress right now and I’ve been sharing some sneak peaks on IG.
Regardless of the design, which is always changing, these walls house us. Our memories. Our “I’m sorry’s”. Our laughs. Our family and our friends.
And for that we are grateful.
Happy anniversary house. 🙂
