We went full throttle on house progress yesterday. Not only did we officially receive the keys yesterday morning, but we had a dumpster ordered to arrive first thing and began tearing things up (with the help of some of our village), all the while we’re parading various contractors through the house to get a few more bids.
I spent the morning snapping a few key before pictures.
I’ve never technically demo’d anything in my life.
But I HAVE watched a lot of Fixer Upper.
Turns out, you don’t actually just take a sledge hammer to everything in sight.
The guys did their best to preserve all the cabinets as we took them down, because CL karma, we posted them for free because they are perfectly good cabinets that someone can use!
But then the drywall started flying, and the walls began to come down.
By the end of day 1, we were hot, sweaty, filthy and had successfully met one neighbor who was brave enough to walk up to the loud banging and chaos going on at our house.
I’ve been fairly emotional about this whole process – wanting to document it all, and just super grateful that this is our current reality.
Been feeling strongly that THESE are the days we will remember. We’ll remember just how little she was, the day that we got the keys to our dream house.
She’s going to grow in this house. And I sort of can’t handle her getting bigger.
Anyway, we are fully underway with demo.
And it’s exciting!
