I’m back with a really fun, and easy DIY today.
We’ve been in purge mode because the worst rain in 122 years will do that to you (hello cabin fever). Thankfully not all of the items don’t have to be fully purged, they can simply be repurposed.
Like this little side table.
I picked up this jenky little side table years ago for $10 on Craigslist, when we were first furnishing our last house. At the time, it had scallop edge details on top, most of which had been chipped off and just obviously needed some love. It spent the last 5 years looking like this. (EDIT: I found the original post from when I first found this table!)
But I was over the stripes and the shabby chic vibe of it, and wanted to try my hand at something a little more Modern Farmhouse.
So no, I did not go out and buy a $200 remnant of Carrara Marble.
I got inspired one night (browsing Pinterest I’m sure), and used my one-click danger button from Amazon, and voila, a little roll of marble showed up at my door two days later.
They call it Self-Adhesive Vinyl and I got mine from Amazon.
Yep, that’s it.
Vinyl? I know.
A sample bit of paint from Sherwin Williams (TriCorn Black) and a piece of marble vinyl.
As most of you know, our floors are LVP, so I am the first to admit vinyl has come A LONG way.
I now want to use this vinyl on all kinds of things, because it is heavy duty and super high gloss and seriously for a low traffic piece, achieves the modern farmhouse look for WAY less.
I’m thinking I could cover a lazy susan with it for a fun centerpiece on the table. Or use it to layer the bottom of an acrylic tray as your entryway table catchall.
You could do a million things with this stuff to transform something you already have in your home to achieve a more modern look.
And just for fun, here’s the transformation:
Paint Color – SW TriCorn Black
Carrara Marble – Self Adhesive Vinyl
Candle – Nordstrom
Coasters – Magnolia
