I mentioned on my Instagram the other day, that we’ve officially been in our house 6 months. And because at any milestone, I feel the nostalgia coming over, I went back and looked at all of the progress we’ve made.
Since many of you are new around here, I thought I’d share some pics with links to more details, in one spot.
I love the contrast in our entryway. I talked about our flooring and paint color choices used throughout the house here.
Our downstairs 3/4 bath is one of my favorites in the whole house. I’m still obsessed with this brass faucet and pivot mirror.
Our family room/great room is the coziest. The fireplace is currently running as I type, and you can pretty much find it that way always if you come over.
Our white farmhouse kitchen still remains the heart of our home. We love our giant island and most all hangouts happen right here.
I’m still obsessed with our modern farmhouse chic bar cart we added.
Our master bedroom has remained in a semi-finished state, but I’m actually okay with that.
We are pretty much constant evangelists for our soft-close barn door. With three monkeys who regularly take their anger out on trying to slam our door, the soft-close is CLUTCH.
Our master bath remodel was one of the bigger transformations in the house. A complete gut, that turned out just how I imagined.
Getting to assemble and move the boys into a shared room with bunk beds has been a dream. Sure, they get less sleep together, but the late night and early morning giggles and shenanigans will be what they remember for years to come.
I decorated the kids’ bath for Christmas and adding all of the subtle greenery and festive touches were my favorite. I love this bathroom.
And that rounds out all that I have shared so far.
Is a house in our world ever really finished? No. But of course I still have our guest room that we haven’t quite gotten under control fully yet, a few closets, and a (now) spare bedroom that doesn’t serve a purpose currently since the boys moved in together.
We’re also about 3-4 weeks out from finishing the first phase of our exterior remodel which includes a giant covered back deck, outdoor BBQ/kitchenette area and the re-entry of the hot tub into our lives! (You can check out my inspiration boards for that here and here)
Sometimes I’m hard on myself when I look around Pinterest or Instagram land. But, looking back on all that I’ve done in just 6 months (not to mention the previous 5 months of actually designing and seeing this thing come to life) helps me put into perspective all the work that we have done. And I feel deeply satisfied, and proud, of that.
Comparison is the thief of joy. I know that firsthand. So remember that even as you look through our pics. Choose joy where you’re at. And sometimes, it’s a helpful exercise to just reflect and look back on just how far you’ve come to feel that sense of accomplishment!
